Derek and Mark are at the ASUS event at IFA 2016
(Derek on text, Mark on photos)
Should be kicking off in ~5 minutes.
There's only one thing we can be certain about: a very excited Jonney Shih will soon be on the stage.
Actually, I stand corrected. Now it's 5 minutes until showtime.
And now starting in two minutes.
Apparently ASUS has a different definition of "time" than you and I.
Asus CVP Eric Chen is up to start
Running through ASUS's accolades over the past year.
Dominating in gaming notebooks and #2 in consumer notebooks.
Brings up Chris Walker, Intel VP of Client Computing
He's excited to see what ASUS is doing with their just-introduced 7th-gen Core processors.
The new Core processors are better than ever at power efficiency, 10x better than the first-gen Core chips.
12-19% better performance than last year's Core chips
And the increase is (obviously) more impressive than the 5-year-old PC that Intel likes to say so many people are using.
So you can play Overwatch (buzzword check!)
Now up: ASUS Design Center Director Jen Chuang
"The point of having a computer is to achieve more, to make marvelous things, to get the job done."
Working to minimize the physical existence of the computer to maximize the user.
New ASUS ZenBook: Super thin, super light, super ASUS
Premium royal blue, rose gold, quartz gray colors.
(The ZenBook 3 was announced back in May)
It's 11.9mm thick, weights 910 grams.
Lighter and thinner than Apple's MacBook
It has a Core i7 processor, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM
It's got relatively thin bezels, but nowhere near as thin as Dell's.
What ASUS is doing right now is reintroducing this laptop in preparation for telling us the pricing.
Fast charging puts it at 60% from empty in 40 minutes.
Harmon Kardon speakers make it louder and bassier.
Also, there's the ZenScreen portable monitor.
